“To do any and all things necessary and convenient to promote the general welfare, development and environment of the areas surrounding Beaver Lake; and specifically to work with local, state and federal planning commissions and regulatory agencies to assure that land development in the Beaver Lake area does not result in a deterioration of Beaver Lake water quality and/or living conditions in the area surrounding Beaver Lake.”

Current Issues
Unplanned and harmful types of development including "urban style", high density development at lake's edge. Benton County is looking at this topic and has established a Land Use/Zoning Committee and a citizen's focus group. ABLE member Lane Gurel is on the Committee, and many ABLE members are participating on the citizen's focus group. ABLE supports some form of development control such as a Land Use plan and possibly some form of zoing to implement any Land Use plan.
Current News
Multi-Basin Regional Watershed Council - ABLE Secretary Jim Gately has been elected to serve as acting President and ABLE member Bill Millager is also active in the Council. The council is made up of watershed protection groups, water suppliers, and many other organizations involved with water issues from the four states of Arkansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Kansas.
The NWA Regional Council has hired Tetra Tech to study water quantity and quality issues related to Beaver Lake. Tetra Tech has held a couple of focus group meetings and has established a "stakeholder" advisory council. ABLE President Doug Timmons is on the Beaver Lake Watershed Advisory Council. This council is made up of major stakeholders in the region and the goal is to come up with a Beaver Lake Management Plan. If you have any questions, please contact Doug Timmons.

Congratulations to our newest board member, Lane Gurel. Lane was appointed by the board to fill the position vacated by retiring Jan Lancaster. Congratulations to Lane!
Special thanks go to Jan Lancaster for her valuable service on the ABLE board! Jan resigned because of imminent plans to relocate out of the area. We wish her well with her future plans!
Grandview Heights Condos Finished! The Benton County Planning Board voted 6-0 (1 member absent) to deny the developer's request for a two-year extension on this project. These developers simply could not perform, which we knew all along. The Planning Board did the right thing! Thank You!
